In another amazing rescue story, Vet Ranch saved an injured dog, who was left untreated by his owners, from euthanasia!
This is Sheba. This beautiful 9-month-old black Labrador mix dog got into a pretty bad accident. In March this year, the poor dogwas surrendered to the pound by her owners, who said she had been hit by a car.
Injured dogs that are found on the streets are held for a couple days before being euthanized, just in case the owners come searching for them. Unfortunately, injured dogs who are surrendered by their owners are pretty much euthanized on the same day they are surrendered.
But thanks to a Good Samaritan, Sheba is safe. The dog was taken to Dr. Matt who found that her injuries are consistent with being hit by a car. The poor Labrador had wounds on her head and back, and a completely fractured tibia!
According to Dr. Matt, the injuries are likely over a month old. Her owners not only gave up on her, but they allowed her to suffer in pain with a broken leg for more than a month.
Dr. Matt performed a surgery to close the wound on Sheba’s head. He had planned on amputating the Lab’s right hind leg, but there was good news after he reconsidered and decided to have Sheba’s leg fixed instead.
A few months after a surgery the Labrador’s tibia finally healed properly!
The sweet dog is currently in the care of her foster parents and will soon be ready for adoption!
Thank you for the wonderful work that you do, Vet Ranch!
