NFL player Tyrann Mathieu had shut himself in a hot car to prove that dogs trapped in a hot cannot take the heat!
The Arizona Cardinals player teamed up with PETA to make a public service announcement on the issue.
Mathieu locked himself in an SUV parked in the 90-degree summer heat. Unsurprisingly, he started sweating and fanning himself after just a few minutes!
“I seriously couldn’t imagine leaving my dog in the car like this,” Mathieu said.
Mathieu only lasted eight minutes in the severe heat –a whole lot shorter than the time most people leave their dogs in the car while running errands.

The NFL player can be seen drenched in sweat which is the human body’s mechanism to cool itself. Dogs don’t have the capacity to sweat to cool themselves.
“If you’re going to make a dog a part of your family, then make him a part of your family,” Mathieu said. “Don’t treat him like you wouldn’t treat someone you cared about or someone you loved.”
