In the United Kingdom, a chocolate Labrador Retriever with a severely infected rear end was found dumped in the street. The pup’s butt was so sore and infected that he could not sit down.
The poor Labrador was discovered wandering outside a shop in High Road, Pitsea, Basildon in Essex on the morning of June 27. It is not known how long he had been there.
The dog was found with severe infections. He has a very large ulcerated tumor to his rump, and a testicular lump.
The dog warden from the Basildon Council was called to take the Labrador.
“It’s deplorable that the owner did not seek treatment earlier and decided to turn their dog out onto the street in the condition he was in,” Phil Easteal, Basildon Council manager responsible for animal control, said. “There is plenty of help available to dog owners, and dumping a dog is not acceptable.”
The warden took the Labrador straight to the vet, who very sadly said that the kindest thing to do was put the dog to sleep to end further suffering.
“This has got to be one of the worst tumors that I have ever seen. It is a wonder he could walk, let alone sit,” RSPCA inspector Marie Hammerton said. “This poor dog must have been in such pain, and who knows how long he had been left to just suffer like that.”
Now, the RSPCA and Basildon Council are appealing for information to track down the owners.
