Supervet, Noel Fitzpartick, achieved an amazing feat when he treated Ira, a Labrador Retriever.
The yellow Labrador received a brand new bionic spine during a ground-breaking surgery.
As a puppy, Ira was taken in by Joy, a lovely old lady. She hoped to ease her loneliness after her husband passed away.Joy credits Ira with saving her life. As it turned out, the 18-month-old Lab had been suffering from a spinal deformity since birth.
When Noel met Ira and learned about his story, he spent 3 weeks creating a bionic spine to replace his diseased one.
“I know he’s your mate and I’ll try to get him back to you running around the fields,” Noel told Joy before the operation.
“Ira is her life partner, her friend and honestly I never forget that when I go in to theatre,” he said.
The operation wasground-breaking and against all odds. It was a long wait, but fortunately the operation was successful!
Everybody was delighted with the result! Ira and Joy will finally live their happy lives together!
