A lucky Labrador Retriever survived the Hay County flood in Texas.
John McComb is recovering from the injuries he got from the flooding, but his wife and two children are still missing.
While anxiously waiting for news about his family, John did receive some good news – his Labrador Retriever, Maggie, had been found in the flood debris in Wimberley.
Angela Clendenin of Texas A&M Veterinary Medicine said a resident was checking his property when he found the yellow Labrador Retriever near Little Arkansas Road. When the man took the Lab to the mobile veterinary clinic, volunteers checked her microchip and identified her owners.
The volunteers worked with Texas Task Force 1 and were able to reach out to John’s relatives who picked up Maggie on Monday afternoon.
Along with their friends, the McComb family was spending the holiday weekend in a rental property along the Blanco River when the floodwaters ripped through Wimberley.
On Sunday afternoon, the Texas A&M Veterinary Emergency Team was deployed to Wimberley to support Texas Task Force 1. The team provided medical care to dogs, owls and even rabbits over the past few days. They are currently operating out of Wimberley High School.
