Labrador Retriever Is UK’s Favorite Dog Breed According To New Survey

The people have spoken! The Labrador Retriever is the UK’s most favorite dog breed, according to a YouGov survey.

Statisticians at YouGov polled 60,000 people who were asked to share their views on dogs. The Labrador Retriever emerged as the UK’s top dog.

The Border Collie, Golden Retriever, and Irish Setter ranked next, while the Chinese Crested, Bullboxer Pit, and Chihuahua were least favored.

In general, larger dog breeds ranked higher than smaller dog breeds.

“The top ranking dogs are mainly mid-sized working or herding dogs, often originating in Britain,” a YouGov spokesperson said. “The Alaskan Husky is the only real exception, known for its efficiency as a sled dog in North America – the other being the Golden Retriever, a gun dog but still hailing from Britain and Europe. The dogs with the least positivity tend to be smaller dogs, either of the toy variety or notorious for their bad temper.”

The survey revealed that more than a quarter of people in the UK own a dog. It was also found that the dog is the most popular pet – beating cats, rabbits and guinea pigs.
