After two months of legal wrangling, Labrador Padi is finally free! But it’s only a temporary reprieve – the dog was granted bail!
The 2-year-old Labrador mix was seized by the Manatee County Animal Services after biting a 4-year-old child in his owner’s veterinary clinic in Bradenton, Florida. Reports say the Labrador mix defended himself after being provoked.
Yesterday, Judge Gilbert Smith made the decision to release Padi to his owner Dr. Paul Gartenberg.
Although Padi will finally be reunited with Dr. Gartenberg and his family, the court order has restrictions.
But this isn’t end of Padi’s fight. A motion is being filed by the Gartenberg’s attorney that will challenge the constitutionality of the Florida Statute 767 under which Padi was confiscated.
If that fails, the county hearing process will continue.
