A Labrador named Blackie saved a Washington County woman from further injury. A man asking for directions forced his way into her home and stabbed her on Monday afternoon. Deputies are searching for the assailant.
Martinez’s injury was not life-threatening, and she was rushed to and stitched up at a nearby hospital, she said. She is now home and resting.
When he forced his way inside and stabbed her, Blackie the Lab jumped on him and he fled.
Deputies believe the man fled north from the scene, toward Benton County, with a dark blue two-door, older model pickup truck. The suspect is a tall white man with a medium build and was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The man is bald, with a goatee, she said.
