Killian, a black Labrador mix brought an end to every parent’s worst nightmare – child abuse, the Inquisitr reported on Sept. 13.
When Benjamin and Hope Jordan moved to Charleston, S.C., they needed a babysitter for their 7-month-old son, Finn. Being responsible parents, they checked references and did a background check on the woman they ultimately chose, 22-year-old Alexis Khan.
After some time the Jordans noticed that their dog’s reaction to the sitter had changed. This typically friendly dog, became very defensive when Khan was around, and would even get between Khan and the infant, Finn. The Jordans knew immediately that something was wrong.
“We noticed the dog was getting very defensive when Alexis was around. He would growl and stand between her and our son. His hair would stand up on the back of his neck and we knew something was up,” Benjamin said.
“He was very aggressive towards her and a few times we actually had to physically restrain our dog from going towards her,” Benjamin said.
Based on their dog’s instincts, they decided to leave an iPhone under the couch to record what was happening in their absence.
“It started with cussing,” Benjamin said, “Then you hear slap noises and his crying changes from a distress cry to a pain cry. I just wanted to reach through the audio tape, go back in time and just grab him up. To know that five months I had handed my child to a monster, not knowing what was going on in my house for that day…” Benjamin’s words trail off.
The audio evidence was enough for investigators to take Khan into custody, where she later pleaded guilty to child abuse and battery.
