Holly, a yellow Labrador, was playing on the muddy banks of the River Brue on Tuesday afternoon, and got stuck in the mud. Her owner, Rose Prosser, rushed to her aid, but unfortunately things went drastically wrong as she became stuck herself. Luckily Rose,was able to attract the attention of a passer-by who alerted BARB and the Burnham coastguard to come to their aid. BARB is a registered charity which utilizes two highly equipped hovercrafts operated by volunteer coastguards.
The incident happened in Somerset, a county situated in the south west of England .
Coastguards rushed to their aid. Rose was helped onto a stretcher and lifted to safety. Labrador, Holly, was freed from the much and led back onto the beach. Rose Prosser praised the efforts of the coastguard saying, “I am extremely grateful for the help of the Coastguards and BARB for their swift help in both our rescues. I was surprised at how easy it is to get stuck in the mud and was relieved that the tide was out at the time.”
