Standard Pacific Homes has decided to build houses that feature dog suites following the puppy pampering phenomenon.
The company is building homes across the US offering dog suites costing up to $35,000. The feature includes showers for puppies and automated feeders.
The company decided to offer pet suites after conducting livability studies with home owners.
One of the most luxurious suites is a pet paradise that comes complete with a step-in wash station, a handheld sprayer and a leash lead.
It has a water station and automated feeders to make sure your pets never go hungry or thirsty. It also has a large bunk-style bed and special cabinets for treats and food.
Other home builders have adapted the already-built houses for pet owners with features such as chip activated doors to make sure dogs can go outdoors whenever they want.
Standard Pacific Homes’ newest community, Avignon at Blackstone in California, features houses that start at $710,000.
There is also a pet spa option for an additional $35,000.
Only the largest suite is available at Avignon at Blackstone but there are smaller sizes and prices in some of the other communities–starting at 60 square feet for $8,000.
Several potential buyers brought their dogs to look at the homes during some of the model grand openings at different communities, said Danielle Tocco, the company’s communications director.
Pet adoptions were also held at some openings in case potential buyers didn’t have a dog but wanted one.
Melanie Dean, a pet owner, splashed out on a pet package for their dog Lola.
She said, “Lola’s room makes life much easier. We don’t have to use the kitchen sink to wash yucky stuff anymore.”
