A funny dog sleeping on his back on a Vancouver sidewalk has been mistaken for dead a number of times.
The pooch, Comet, is now a ripe sixteen years old. He has been sleeping this way in same spot on a Mount Pleasant sidewalk for 14 years. His odd snoozing position has attracted a lot of attention! His owner has had to deal with passers-by, the police and the SPCA.
The dog is renowned for startling people with his bizarre sleeping habits. They think he’s dead, but the happy senior is just doing what he likes best – sleeping.
“It’s constant. All day, every day,” his owner Lisa Dyer told CBCnews. “We always joke that he should have his own website, or a t-shirt on that says ‘I’m okay!'”
Comet has been sleeping in front of Dyer’s shop, for 14 years. His naps have attracted startled enquirers form everyone – shoppers, the police and the SPCA. The know Comet by name, because they have been called to his sleeping spot so many times.
Hyer rescued the dog from a bad situation 14 years ago. She says she can’t leave the dog at home because he gets so anxious that he hurts himself.
“He just feels like this is his corner and he’s good,” Hyer says. “This is just his spot, he’s happy and comfortable here, he’s been here all these years.
Hyer says that if you see Comet on your walk in Mount Pleasant, don’t panic; he’s fine.
Whoever thought up the old adage, “Let sleeping dogs lie” must have had Comet in mind!
Awww the joys of living with dogs!
