A variety of dogs took to the water for the fifth annual Surf City Surf Dog competition at Huntington Beach in California. The objective is to raise funds for animal welfare organisations.
Dogs of all shapes and sizes took part in the competition held Friday, September 27 to Sunday, September 29.
The participants were divided into four weight class from under 20 pounds to larger dogs weighing more than 60 pounds.
The main criteria was how long the dogs could stay on the board. Their confidence while riding the wave was also take into account.
Most dogs were equipped with life jackets for this fun outing. Many dogs came out in style wearing wonderful costumes.
