In Nepal, there is a special festival that celebrates the cherished relationship between humans and dog!
Millions of Hindus celebrate Diwali – a festival of lights – every year in the fall in India, Nepal and elsewhere.
Tihar is a five day Hindu festival that is specific to Nepal. This year’s Tihar will be held from November 9 to 13. The Kukur Tihar or Kukur Puja (worship of the dogs) is celebrated on the second day and is entirely dedicated to cherishing dogs’ loyalty and friendship.
In this celebration, people offer garlands, tika (a mark worn on the forehead), and delicious food to dogs. They acknowledge their love of dogs and the cherished relationship between humans and dogs.
The amazing celebration of this beautiful festival is uplifting for dog loves.
Using a red powder, Hindus mark the dogs’ foreheads as a sign of sacredness.
