Egg Balancing Labrador Wins An Award

In England, a 5-year-old Labrador Retriever has become an award-winner! The awesome Lab was rewarded with a £750 photography session for his modeling debut.

You may all wonder why he got all that. Ole the Labrador Retriever is an expert in nose balancing!

The black Labbie has lived with his owners, Ann and David Lovell, at St. Annes since he was a nine-week-old puppy. They signed him up into the Family Pet Show and Venture Photography Pet Paparazzi contest after stumbling upon the competition on Facebook.

Ole – or Ollie to his humans – was among the hundreds of pets who lined up for their 15 minutes of fame on the red carpet area at Event City in Manchester in October 2014. After gathering 480 ‘likes’ on Facebook, Ole advanced to a final set of six dogs for judges to pick as a winner.

The winner was chosen by Family Pet Show owner Carrie Mosley based on who she would most like to share a red carpet moment with and guess who won? Ollie, of course!

“All of the pets who took part in the red carpet competition were gorgeous, and it was hard going trying to pick just one. But in the end it came down to Ole’s sartorial elegance. A kind of canine version of George Clooney,” Carrie said.

His human, David, said, “He’s everything a Lab should be, including being a walking bin and great with kids.It was a great day out for us as a family as Ole had also come third in the Hills Petfood balancing competition. Although he loves food, we’ve trained him to balance treats on his nose and so he was really good at that – and of course got to eat the treats.”

The awesome Labrador  was rewarded for his egg balancing sessions with dog food.

“He can sit there with lots of different things on his nose, sausages, eggs, anything really,” Ann said. “If you also ask him one plus one or how old he is, he will bark the right amount of times until he sees cues to stop.”

John Perry, of Warrington’s Venture Photography, talked about the talented cutie too!

“Tall, dark and handsome worked for Ole this time. We’re so pleased with the results we’re already planning for next year,” he said.
