Tomorrow, a disabled woman and her Labrador will be taking a painful 10-mile walk on crutches to raise funds for Labrador Retriever Rescue Scotland.
Shauna MacDonald almost died after emergency operations left her with one disabled leg. She says her Labrador dog, Ziggy Stardust, makes her life whole again.
Ziggy inspired Shauna to do a sponsored walk to raise money for Labrador Retriever Rescue Scotland.
Shauna said the charity came to her rescue by finding her a puppy when her last dog Frankie, also a Labrador, passed suddenly from a rare and aggressive cancer. She was heartbroken when she lost 3-year-old Frankie, but is now living a happy life with Ziggy Stardust.
Now, she is looking forward to doing the 10-mile sponsored walk along the canal with her beloved Labrador by her side on Sunday –despite knowing how painful it will be.
“This is a lot for me as I have to use crutches, I’m on a lot of medication and in pain all the time but, if it helps raise money and awareness of this amazing charity, then it’s totally worth it,” she said.
So far, sponsors have pledged almost £500 and Shauna is hoping more will come in before the event.
